No. Even though Emma Lou’s uses the absolute best quality animal protein with no added hormones, we don’t believe that animal protein should ever be fed raw. Produce even if certified organic can never compare to the quality of meat of the animal a canine would naturally catch in the wild. However, a lot of our veggies in our recipes are steam cooked such as our green beans, broccoli, etc. We also include completely raw ingredients such as flax seed powder, parsley and apple, etc.

Which Formula is best for my dog?
Send us an email with your dog's age, ideal weight, energy level (low, average or high) as well as any health issues or allergies your dog might has. We will email you back with a recommendation.
Please note: Our four main formulas are all pretty much the same except for the protein itself so we strongly recommend giving your dog a mix of our formulas. Studies have shown that dogs that eat a variety of protein are healthier.

I cook chicken and rice for my dog, isn't that enough?
No. While cooked chicken and rice is better for them than commercial dog food, it is not a balanced diet. Our food meets and exceeds the AAFCO nutritional profile for dogs which is essential to their health.

My dog has weight issues, can your food help?
Yes. Our food, unlike a lot of commercial dog food, has an exact caloric count which means you can monitor your dogs caloric intake exactly.
Why is there a minimum amount for ordering?
We ship with dry ice and ship in insulated boxes which is extremely costly, so we ask that our customers order a minimum of 12 packets per order.

Is your food made in an USDA inspected kitchen?
Yes. Our kitchen facility is owned by us and is where we exclusively prepare all of our formulas. We don't use co-packers. Everything we make is from scratch in our own kitchen. With love, of course!
Is your packaging BPA free?
Yes, all of our packaging is BPA-free and FDA approved.
How many cups in each packet?
There are two cups of food in each 16 ounce packet.

When will I recieve my order?
All orders leave our kitchen on Mondays and Tuesdays as long as they’re placed by Sunday. If received after Sunday, they will go out the following week.
You will receive a tracking number on Monday or Tuesday with an estimated arrival date of your order. Feel free to email us with any questions or concerns.
Our shipments arrive 1-3 days after they're shipped.

How does the food arrive and what should I do with it?
When your food arrives it will be frozen and all the dry ice should be gone. When it arrives, put most of the food in your freezer and put the ones that you will be using in the refrigerator to start the thawing process.There is directions on the back of each packet as well as directions in your first order with directions.
What is your refund policy?
All sales are final and we cannot accept food that is shipped back to us. If there is something wrong with your order, please take photos and email them to us along with an explanation of the issue at info@emmalouskitchen.com
The food was a little defrosted or thawed when it arrived, is it safe for my dog to eat?
Our insulated coolers keep the temperature inside below 40 degrees at all times so even if part of the packet is starting to defrost, it will still be held at 40 or below thus ensuring that the food is not growing any bacteria. The packets are also safe to refreeze.
